In the construction of cold storage, foam sandwich panel plays a key role. Cold storage requires a low-temperature environment and has extremely high requirements for insulation performance. The thermal conductivity of foam sandwich panel is low, which can effectively prevent the heat transfer, reduce the heat exchange inside and outside the cold storage, and reduce the energy consumption of the refrigeration equipment.

For example, for a cold storage for meat, the use of 150 mm thick polyurethane foam sandwich panels as wall and roof materials can stabilize the temperature in the cold storage at about -18 ℃, and reduce the cooling energy consumption by about 15% -20% compared with other insulation materials.

The moisture-proof performance of foam sandwich board is also very important. The humidity inside the cold storage is relatively high. If the moisture resistance of the material is poor, it is easy for moisture to penetrate, affecting the insulation effect and structural strength.

The closed cell structure of foam sandwich panel can effectively prevent the invasion of moisture and ensure the normal operation of the cold storage. In practical application, a large food cold storage, with a building area of 10000 square meters, uses double-sided color steel polyurethane foam sandwich panels as the enclosure structure. The core material density of this sandwich panel is 40 kg/m ³, which has good thermal insulation and moisture resistance properties.

After years of operation, the insulation effect inside the cold storage is good, and there has been no structural damage or decrease in insulation performance caused by moisture.

Cold storage, as a special type of storage facility, has an internal environment that remains in a low-temperature state for a long time and has high humidity. This puts forward a series of special requirements for materials used in cold storage construction:

The insulation requirements are extremely high: cold storage requires a continuous low temperature environment to ensure the quality and freshness of stored items. Therefore, the thermal insulation performance of the material is crucial.

Good insulation materials can effectively prevent the transfer of external heat, reduce the operating time and energy consumption of cold storage refrigeration equipment, and lower operating costs.

Generally speaking, cold storage requires materials with the lowest possible thermal conductivity to reduce heat transfer.

Moisture resistance is crucial: due to the high humidity inside the cold storage, the moisture resistance of materials directly affects the normal operation and service life of the cold storage. If the moisture resistance of the material is poor, moisture can easily penetrate into the interior of the material, leading to a decrease in insulation performance and even causing damage to the material and structural deformation.

Therefore, cold storage materials need to have good moisture resistance and be able to effectively block the invasion of water vapor.

Fire resistance cannot be ignored: Cold storage usually stores a large amount of goods, and once a fire occurs, the consequences can be unimaginable. Therefore, the construction of cold storage has strict requirements for the fire resistance performance of materials.

The material should have a certain degree of flame retardancy, which can delay the spread of fire in the event of a fire, buy time for personnel evacuation and firefighting rescue, and reduce the losses caused by the fire.

The structural strength needs to meet the requirements: During the use of the cold storage, it may be subjected to various external forces, such as the stacking pressure of goods, thermal expansion and contraction stress caused by temperature changes, etc. Therefore, cold storage materials need to have sufficient structural strength to withstand these external forces, ensuring the stability and safety of the cold storage structure.

These special requirements are interrelated and jointly affect the selection of cold storage materials. When selecting materials for cold storage, it is necessary to comprehensively consider multiple factors such as insulation, moisture resistance, fire resistance, and structural strength to ensure that the materials can meet the special usage environment and functional requirements of the cold storage.

Foam sandwich panel is largely used in cold storage because of its advantages:

Excellent thermal insulation performance: the thermal conductivity of foam sandwich panel is extremely low, for example, the thermal conductivity of polyurethane foam sandwich panel can reach 0.02-0.025 W/(m ・ K), and the thermal conductivity of polystyrene foam sandwich panel is generally between 0.038-0.042 W/(m・K).

This enables the foam sandwich panel to effectively prevent the heat transfer, reduce the heat exchange inside and outside the cold storage, and maintain the low temperature environment inside the cold storage.

In practical application, 100 mm thick polyurethane foam sandwich panel is used as the wall material of the cold storage. Compared with other ordinary insulation materials, it can reduce the cooling energy consumption of the cold storage by 15% -20%, and greatly reduce the operating cost.

Good moisture-proof performance: the foam core material of the foam sandwich panel usually has a closed cell structure, which can effectively block the invasion of moisture. At the same time, its metal panel also has certain waterproof performance, further enhancing the moisture-proof effect.

In the high humidity environment of the cold storage, foam sandwich panels can maintain stable performance, and will not be affected by moisture, which will lead to the decline of insulation performance or structural damage.

Taking a seafood cold storage as an example, the polyurethane foam sandwich panel was used as the enclosure structure. After years of use, there was no problem caused by moisture. The goods inside the cold storage were always kept in good storage condition.

Convenient installation: the lightweight characteristics of foam sandwich panel make it very convenient during handling and installation. The plug-in or bolt connection method used does not require complex construction techniques and large construction equipment, and construction personnel can quickly assemble and install sandwich panels.

In the construction of a small cold storage, using foam sandwich panels for installation, the construction team can complete the installation in only 3-5 days, while the traditional masonry structure construction takes 15-20 days, greatly shortening the construction period, so that the cold storage can be put into use faster.
