Warehouse Roof
Bona supply prefab housing, container houses, steel structure warehouse building and sandwich panel wall and roof for steel buildings.

Material selection for steel structure warehouse roofing
The material selection of steel structure warehouse roof is a key link, which directly affects the performance, durability, and construction cost of the warehouse. At present, there is a wide variety of roof panel materials available in the market, each with its unique performance characteristics and applicable range.
Color coated steel plate, is made by using cold-rolled steel plate and galvanized steel plate as substrates, surface pretreatment including degreasing, cleaning, chemical conversion treatment etc., continuous coating with paint, baking and cooling.
Corrugated Roofing Sheet is lightweight, aesthetically pleasing, and have good corrosion resistance. Its coating can come in various colors and simulate the appearance of different materials such as stone and wood, greatly improving the aesthetics of the building.
At the same time, it has good weather resistance and can maintain color stability even in harsh weather conditions, making it difficult to fade. In commercial logistics warehouses, Corrugated Roofing Sheets are widely used for roofs.
Their rich color selection can meet the aesthetic requirements of architectural design, coordinate with the surrounding environment, and excellent weather resistance and corrosion resistance enable them to be exposed to natural environments for a long time while maintaining stable performance.
Color steel sandwich panel is also a common material for roof panel of steel structure warehouse. It is composed of two layers of color coated steel plates as the surface layer and insulation core material, which is bonded with high-strength adhesive after rolling and foaming molding.
This type of sandwich panel integrates load-bearing, insulation, fire prevention, and waterproofing, and does not require secondary decoration. It is easy to install, has a short construction period, and has good comprehensive benefits.
It is widely used in large industrial plants, warehouses, sports halls, supermarkets, hospitals, cold storage rooms, activity rooms, building floors, clean workshops.
For example, in some warehouses with high requirements for heat preservation, such as warehouses storing drugs, electronic equipment, the insulation performance of color steel sandwich panels can effectively maintain indoor temperature stability and protect the quality of stored items.
Polyurethane sandwich panel is known for its extremely low thermal conductivity and excellent insulation effect, making it suitable for warehouses that require strict temperature control, such as cold storage or drug storage.
Rock wool and glass wool are common fire-resistant and thermal insulation materials with good insulation and fire resistance properties. They are usually used in warehouses with high fire prevention requirements, especially in places where flammable materials are stored.

Warehouse roof specifications
-
Thickness
The thickness of the roof panel is one of the important parameters that affect its performance and usability. The thickness selection of warehouse roof panels varies depending on the material and purpose.
Generally speaking, for commonly used single corrugated roofing sheet, the thickness is usually not less than 0.6mm. In some steel structure warehouses with high requirements for load-bearing capacity, a specification of 0.8mm or even thicker may be chosen to ensure that the roof panel can withstand larger loads, such as maintenance loads for large equipment, snow loads, etc.
For color steel sandwich panels, their thickness is mainly determined by the thickness of the core material. Common core material thicknesses include 50mm, 75mm, 100mm, 150mm, etc. In ordinary storage warehouses, 50mm or 75mm thick sandwich panels may be sufficient to meet insulation and structural requirements.
But in some cold storage warehouses that require extremely high insulation performance, 150mm thick sandwich panels may be used to better maintain the low temperature environment inside the warehouse.
-
Width
There are various width specifications for corrugated roofing sheet, commonly including 760, 820, 900, etc. These different widths of roof panels have their own advantages in practical applications, and their selection and installation methods are closely related to the building structure.
For example, the effective coverage width of the 760 type roof panel is 760mm. This width of roof panel is relatively narrow during installation, making it easier to adjust and splice in complex roof structures or areas with many nodes, and can better adapt to changes in roof shape.
The effective coverage width of the 820 type roof panel is 820mm, which is relatively wide. In large-scale roof laying, using this width of roof panel can reduce the number of joints between panels, thereby improving the overall integrity and waterproof performance of the roof.
At the same time, it can also improve installation efficiency, reduce installation time and cost. For sandwich panel width, standard is 960mm or 1050mm.
-
Length
The length of warehouse roof panels does not have fixed standard specifications like thickness and width, and is influenced by various factors such as transportation conditions, installation methods, and building spans.
During transportation, due to the length and loading limitations of the vehicle, the length of the roof panel should generally not be too long, otherwise it will bring difficulties to transportation.
If the span of the building is large and transportation conditions limit the length of the roof panels, on-site splicing is usually used to meet the length requirements of the roof. In the construction of some large industrial plants, the roof span may reach tens of meters, and the length of transportation vehicles is limited.
In this case, it is necessary to splice shorter roof panels on site through reliable connection methods such as welding, riveting, etc., to ensure that the spliced roof panels can meet the requirements of structural strength and waterproofing.

The project discussed here is the one we completed in Indonesia for a 6,000 square meter of powder house, by 50mm thickness sandwich panel for the warehouse roof with high thickness of metal sheet.
We provided sandwich panels for the warehouse roofing, warehouse wall panels, all installation accessories, hardware, sewer pipe etc.
If you have a warehouse to build, we can provide design and supply all materials for the whole steel structure building, or just provide the steel structure part or just the sandwich panels wall and roofing system together with installation accessories.
You can directly give us your required size and quantity of warehouse wall and warehouse roof, fittings for your project. Otherwise you can share us the design drawing of your warehouse, we will calculate and send you the proposal.

Key points of Warehouse roof design
-
Preventing rainwater from seeping into metal roof panels is crucial and various measures can be taken.

-
The fire resistance of roof panel materials is directly related to the fire safety of warehouses. When selecting roof panel materials, it is necessary to ensure that they are non combustible and that flames cannot penetrate the roof panels in the event of a fire, in order to prevent the fire from spreading to the interior of the warehouse and causing greater losses.

-
For example, rock wool sandwich panels have good fire resistance which has a high melting point, which can effectively prevent the spread of flames. In some warehouses storing flammable materials, such as chemical raw material warehouses, it is necessary to use roof panel materials with excellent fire resistance to ensure the safety of the warehouse.

-
When designing the steel structure warehouse roof, special attention should be paid to wind pressure resistance design to ensure the safety of the warehouse under adverse weather conditions.

-
For warehouses that require noise control, sound insulation design is essential.

-
Good ventilation can effectively reduce the temperature and humidity inside the warehouse, prevent goods from getting damp and deteriorating, and also provide a comfortable working environment for staff. Ventilation design mainly involves setting up ventilation openings on metal roofs, utilizing natural wind or mechanical ventilation equipment to achieve indoor and outdoor air exchange.

-
The size, quantity, and location of warehouse roof ventilation openings need to be determined comprehensively based on factors such as warehouse area, height, types of stored goods, and local climate conditions.

-
The warehouse roof panel needs to withstand various loads such as its own weight, snow weight, and the weight of maintenance personnel, so its load-bearing performance must meet the requirements.

-
In order to save energy and improve the natural lighting effect inside the warehouse, lighting panels or glass can be arranged at specific locations on the roof.
Insulated sandwich panels as a commonly used warehouse roofing material, have shown significant advantages in terms of aesthetic diversity, quick installation, high durability, thermal insulation, and reasonable price, making them widely used in the construction of steel structure warehouses.
